Sunday brunch on the radio

This morning I chatted with Lish Fejer and listeners, on her new Sunday Brunch time slot, about keeping your house cool during a heat wave. We focused on the importance of externally shading your windows and had some great questions about when to close your house up in the morning, when to open in the evening; whether retrofitting double glazing is worth it; and the effectiveness and efficiency of evaporative cooling.

The Canberra community has a healthy appetite for sustainable housing so it may well become a regular chin wag. Lish has plenty of great tips about DIY sustainability (or GIY as she likes to call it!) herself. As well as reading our blog, I highly recommend checking out her website – www.greenityourself.com – which has loads of useful tips and entertaining videos. Plus, of course, listen in on Sundays… its not all about sustainability, in fact it is quite an eclectic mix. For example, this morning it went from competitive cake-making for the Canberra Show – via colourful milk experiments, sea turtle controversy and beating the heat at home – all the way to Austen Tayshus and Australiana!

PS. thanks for the yummy, take-away cake, Lish :-)
